  1. Go to the iTunes App Store.
  2. Download and install: AnyConnect Security Mobility Client.
  3. Find the newly installed AnyConnect application.
  4. To open it, tap on the AnyConnect icon.
  5. The first time you start AnyConnect, you’ll get this message: “Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client extends the VPN capabilities of your device. Do you want to enable this software?“
  6. Select OK.
  7. Select Add VPN Connection.
  8. Enter the following VPN settings:
    1. Description: NCSU (or whatever name you choose)
    2. Server Address: vpn.ncsu.edu
    3. Leave the rest at the default settings.
    4. Select Save.
  9. To start the VPN service while the application is loaded: move the AnyConnect VPN slider to On.
  10. When prompted, select your Group from the drop-down menu, :
    1-Faculty-and-Staff: group for all employees.
    2-Student: group for all students.
    3-Student-Health-Center: specialized group for Student Health Center.
    4-Vendor: specialized group for vendor access.
    5-OIT-Staff: specialized group for OIT staff.
    6-Faculty-and-Staff-FT: group for all employees with all connections in a full tunnel.
    7-Student-FT: group for all students with all connections in a full tunnel.
  11. Then enter your Unity ID, password, and in the Second Password Field type either push, sms, or a passcode to authenticate.
  12. Tap the Connect link.
  13. The Duo software will then either prompt for confirmation or send a passcode. To learn more about authentication with Duo see https://oit.ncsu.edu/it-security/2fa/.

  14. To Disconnect:
    1. Load the AnyConnect application again.
    2. At the top of the screen, move the AnyConnect VPN slider to Off.

When iPad is joined to a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar at the top of the screen shows signal strength. The more bars you see, the stronger the signal. To join a Wi-Fi connection, select the settings app on your home screen (grey gear icon), tap Wi-Fi and choose a network. Download/install:

On your device:

  1. Go to App Store > tap Search > enter Cisco AnyConnect or Cisco Legacy AnyConnect.
  2. Tap AnyConnect
  3. Tap Free > Install > Open.
  4. Tap OK, when prompted to allow app to extend VPN capabilities of device..
    (you’ll only need to do this once).

Configure:

See image below for steps 1-3.

  1. Tap Connections > Add VPN Connection.
  2. Enter the following:
    Description: MSU VPN (or whatever you'd like..)
    Server Address: https://vpn.msu.montana.edu
  3. Tap Save in the top-right corner of your screen.

Connect:

Ipad Anyconnect No License

  1. Slide the AnyConnect VPN button to On(if you have multiple connections set up, first select connection and then tap on/off button).
  2. Group: MSU-Employee-VPN (or choose the group appropriate for your role, i.e. students > MSU-Student-VPN).
    Username: NetID
    Password: NetID password
  3. Tap Connect.

Disconnect Tap the AnyConnect icon > slide/tap the on/off button to off.
