Apr 14, 2021 If you want to run Windows on your M1 Mac, you can launch Parallels Desktop 16.5 to run the Windows 10 ARM Insider Preview, the only version of Windows that can run on Apple silicon. Hi My Wife has an old ASUS ZenBook which she uses as a personal laptop but sometimes for work purposes. There is one bit of software she uses for work (order processing) which only works in Windows, the macOS version is 1-2 years away. Long story short, the Asus is on its last legs and I don't. The easy option is a new version of Parallels desktop, the company’s desktop hypervisor for macOS. Released Wednesday, is now offered in a native version for Apple’s own M1 silicon. The 2014 air on bootcamp gets 3.9 GHz where as the M1 Mac mini runs a flat 1.0 GHz. Also as far as optimization, trying to set it to parallels instead of Apple repeatedly tells me to restart Mac and doesn't let me launch parallels while it's selected as parallels.
